Recently, the concept of ubiquitous computing gradually becomes applied on wide range of field. In order to improve convenience and entertainment in human lives, a smart home system is a representation that is widely used in family life. In this study, we invented a new operation which aims to use pattern code to interact with tangible user interface. In this study we conduct a focus group to extract pattern elements to design to derive the pattern code designs. The new patterns codes not only can be recognized effectively by algorithms but also provide the feedforward to convey the operational information to users. For evaluating the feasibility of pattern code design, the questionnaire of subjective perception and the testing of recognition rate were conducted respectively. The result of testing showed pattern code can be recognized well by algorithm. The result of subjective perception indicated pattern code can success to convey their feedforward and semantics to users. Finally we can conclude the pattern codes of recognition can be utilized in TUIs and verify the new pattern code designs conform computer vision and human perception. In the future, we can apply this systematic pattern code diversely in the interactive process of smart homes as a key to detect objects to achieve the object recognition system innovation.
