Image processing and computer graphics applications in medical
images is to automatically or semi-automatically recognize some specific
organs, establish a series of contours of the organs of interest, and
reconstruct the 3D models.
While the human cross-section images are continued, it means the
image features between neighbor images are similar. Therefore, the contour
of the organ of interest in the previous image can be the reference contour in
the current image. The “Contour Segmentation” segments both the reference
contour and the evaluated contour as into several segments. Each segment is
like a straight line and has its own image features. The “Contour Evaluation”
finds out the matching reference segment of the reference contour for each
evaluated segment and assigns the score to the evaluated segment.
Additional, we can evaluate the shape and the space feature the
evaluated contour based on those of the reference contour. Final, we model a
series of an organ contours as the “organ model”, and provide the organ
model information and several tools that help other systems to create
suitable organ contours effectively.
