「永續發展」是21世紀人類面臨最重要的環境保護課題，因此近幾年來「綠建築」的思維逐漸受到建築產業的重視，而淘汰貨櫃再利用的概念，符合綠建築指標中二氧化碳減量、節能、減廢的精神。
貨櫃為一效率極高的工業化航運產品。卻有嚴格之性能要求與淘汰機制，每隔固定週期，便有數千只貨櫃遭淘汰，這些貨櫃，雖不能擔任運輸工作，卻仍具有一定的強度與可供再利用的特性。

　　歐、美、日等先進國家，已將淘汰貨櫃開發應用於低層住宅、辦公室、教室…等案例，台灣目前貨櫃的再利用多為檳榔攤販、工寮、工具材料間、警衛室、車庫…等用途上，鮮有利用為居室之用途甚為可惜。

□研究目的
針對台灣地區低層貨櫃住宅再生利用技術進行了解、分析、整理並提出改善方法。

□研究方法
1.文獻回顧︰
(1)瞭解貨櫃、低層住宅構、工法性能及相關規範。(2)瞭解國內、外貨櫃建築應用案例及宅性能評估要項，建立低層貨櫃住宅性能影響因子。
2.現場調查訪談︰
(1)進行調查訪談以蒐集實徵性的資料，驗證假設。(2)採用敘述性分析簡化所得資料，進行問題分析歸納與對策嚴擬，以獲致結論。

□研究成果
1.確認貨櫃之構造性能︰
(1)空間尺度、(2)結構載重、(3)構築方式、(4)材料應用、(5)建築物理環境性能。
2.瞭解台灣低層貨櫃住宅應用現況︰
(1)符合綠建築之趨勢、(2)為低污染、低環境衝擊之構法、(3)符合空間成長需求、(4)符合開放性建築趨勢、(5)可用於臨時安置及災後重建。
3.低層貨櫃住宅之應用案︰
(1)1~5人住宅應用提案。(2)低層貨櫃住宅造價基準每坪造價約2~2.5萬。
4.改善對策︰
(1)安全性︰改善貨櫃住宅基礎定著、開口補牆、施工接合、防火安全。(2)居住性︰改善貨櫃住宅音環境、熱環境。(3)耐久性︰改善貨櫃住宅之防水、防鏽機制。

　　希冀本研究成果，對業界能提昇生產品品質，對使用者能確保生命財產安全，對環境能促進資源再利用。

　　「Sustainable Development」is the most important environmental issue in 21st century. The idea of「Green Architecture」is also getting more and more attention in the building business. The concept of using shipping container as habitable structures , which can reduce carbon-dioxide﹑save energy and reuse the usable resources also match the spirit of Green Architecture.

　　Shipping containers are highly effective standard transportation products and have strict performance behavior standard and regulations. Thousands of container was dumped in Taiwan every now and then . Though these shipping containers are not suitable for transportation , they still have a certain degree of strength and usability.

　　In some developed countries , such as Germany、England、American and Japan , shipping containers have been developed in low rise residence、office、classroom and etc. However , shipping containers are mainly used as belt-nut kiosk , worker sleeping room , storage room, guard room, garage and etc. It is very pity that few of them were developed into residence.

□Purpose
To survey, analyze, and to understand the shipping container reusing techniques in Taiwan, then try to improve them and find some better ways to utilize them.

□Method
1.Literature Review︰
　(1) To understand the construction and regulations about low rise residence and to get some knowledge about containers. (2) To study some cases in Taiwan and foreign countries, and by studying housing performance system to establish low rise residence effective factors.
2.Field survey︰
　(1) To survey and collect some information and data to verify the assumption. (2)By analytical statistic method to simplify the data, and by so doing , to get to the conclusion。

　3.Low rise shipping container residence application cases︰
(1)1~5 people residence cases (2)about 6~10 thousand NT dollars each square meter。
　4.Improve method︰
(1)Safety︰improve container residence’s foundation、strengthen opening、working joint and fire safety (2)Livability︰Improve container residence’s sound and heat environment (3)Durability︰improve container residence’s water proof and anti-rotten mechanism.

　　May this study can improve container residence quality in construction , guarantee user’s live and wealth , and reuse the environmental resources.
