The topic of Ecosystems has been extensively studied by many scholars, covering a wide range of fields. Among them, the view of ecosystem's generativity has received more and more attention. This research adopts the socio-technical conceptual framework proposed by Thomas & Tee. However, in recent years, most of the studies on ecosystem generativity still focus on quantitative research methods and use the role of large enterprises as suppliers or customers as the target of research, but seldom mention how to effectively utilize the ecosystem generativity as an ecosystem orchestrator of small and medium-sized enterprises with limited resources, so that the total ecosystem and its internal stakeholders can achieve the long-term goal of sustainability.
Based on the theoretical perspectives of ecosystem and generativity, this research selects E-Excellence Incorporation as a study case and uses the case study method of qualitative research to conduct an in-depth analysis of the context of the case practical phenomenon. Then, further analyzes how the case uses its ecosystem’s generativity to connect the stakeholders of value creation activities and keep generating innovation. Finally, those created solutions to solve practical problems and promote the development of ecosystem’s generativity.
According to the conclusion of this research, as the orchestrator of the ecosystem, by establishing a generative architecture with high generative potential, providing a platform for stakeholders to freely link their respective technologies or products, and facilitating internal suggestions and interactions, we can enhance the heterogeneity among stakeholders, reduce the factors that limit internal interactions, and enhance the convenience of internal communication and liaison. In the end, through continuous improvement and optimization of the generativity framework, we will accelerate the ecosystem to achieve the overall goal of sustainability.
