台灣在過去的經濟發展上，外人直接投資扮演了非常重要的角色，而日本企業對台灣製造業的影響尤為重要，至今仍是台灣很重要的技術提供來源。故本研究藉由迴歸分析找出影響日本對台投資之台灣總體變數，另外藉由加入虛擬變數，分析台灣在2011年ECFA實行後，是否對於日本投資台灣有顯著的影響。最後以探討實證結果，來提出台灣產業的方向或建議。
本研究以2009年1月至2013年12月之月資料進行實證，探討影響日本對台投資之台灣總體經濟變數，使用最小平方法(OLS)進行迴歸分析以及各項檢定如：共線性檢定、鳥巢檢定，變異數不齊一檢定及自我相關檢定，並加入虛擬變數代表ECFA實施的期間。
實證結果發現影響日本對台投資之台灣總體變數中，匯率、台灣製造業對中國大陸出口額及每人平均國民生產毛額對吸引日本來台投資有顯著的影響效果，另外在虛擬變數ECFA也對日本投資台灣有顯著的影響效果。

Foreign direct investment (FDI) played an important role in getting technical know-how and expediting economic growth in Taiwan, especially Japanese investments to manufacturing industries. In this study, it demonstrates the influence of ECFA on Japanese investments to Taiwan by using regression analysis with Taiwan macroeconomic variables. To this end, Japanese investments and macroeconomic variables from 2009 to 2013 in Taiwan were collected and analyzed with ECFA as dummy variable by regression analysis, Klien’s method, nested hypothesis test, and White Heteroskedasticity test. According to results, the exchange rate, total exports of manufacturing industries to China, per capita gross national product (PCGNP) and the implementation of ECFA have highly significant effects on Japanese investments in Taiwan. Taken together, this study provides useful information and direction to improve the future cooperation of Taiwan manufacturing industries with Japan.
