西洋管弦樂團原以弦樂團為基礎，以弓弦樂器為要，逐步發展成今日的面貎，本研究以小提琴為主要研究對象，探討樂器演奏機制的改變，影響其演奏方式、演奏技巧及表現力等現象，並且演奏方式及技巧的發展也會影響作品的創作。今日，器樂曲創作突破傳統演奏的表現方式，著重在音色表現探索，以新音色、更豐富的聲音內涵，取代以往純粹用音高來展現樂器的形式。
　　二十世紀樂派諸多實驗性音樂，思考如何結合傳統與現代、東方與西方，發展出相當多元的演奏技法以及聲響應用，本文針對弓弦樂器演奏技巧與作品表現著手，筆者選擇潘皇龍的作品做為研究的起手，係因其作品中加入了許多小提琴特殊、不常見的技巧，這些是二十世紀實驗樂派的特徵，透過作品的研究，一窺實驗樂派所發展出來的音樂質性。

The modern Western orchestra we see and hear today was built upon the foundation of a string orchestra, composed primarily of bowed string instruments. This study focuses on the subject of the violin and explores how changes in the playing mechanism can affect the method, technique, and expressiveness of a performance. Moreover, the development of playing methods and performance techniques can influence the composition of musical works. The present-day composition of instrumental pieces has broken away from traditional methods of expression, focusing mainly on the exploration of timbre expressions, utilizing new timbres and more complex sounds to replace the more traditional, simplistic approach of developing instruments with pitch.
The 20th century sees the introduction of various experimental music styles. The composers of this era considered the fusion of the traditional and modern and the combination of the East and the West to develop diverse performance techniques and use of sounds. This study focuses on the performance techniques and expression of works in bowed string instruments, starting with the works of Hwang-Long Pan for the unusual violin techniques involved. These are the characteristic of 20th-century experimental music. Through the research of compositions, this study offers a glimpse into the musical qualities of experimentalism.
