  • 設計知識的整理是傳承經驗與相關技術的重要工作,不同的設計知識有不同的使用特性與面向。《建築模式語言》建立了「模式語言方法」的整理方式。「模式」和「語言」代表著模式語言不同的知識面向。「模式」是提取設計知識精要的片段。「語言」是設計知識的體現,必須有足夠的時間和使用驗證,才能夠具備足夠深度與廣度的知識,形成自行發展的語言系統。隨著電腦在建築設計的各個領域地位逐漸重要,參數式設計或是參數模型等方法改變了設計知識整理與使用的特性,過去抽象的數學概念如今成為建築人可以理解的空間資訊,成為設計靈感的新來源。
    本研究以《參數設計模式》的基礎,結合建築設計知識,延伸開發了十三則模式,並綜合其他整理設計知識的體系,擬定了模式語言方法必須具備的格式與內容規範。模式內容加入以建築案例呈現「已知的使用」,輔助建築背景者的知識連結,肯定範例對參數設計知識學習的效果,與使用連續的靜態圖片呈現動態的參數設計操作結果,兼顧必須的動態效果與辨識性。
    本研究以一個國際工作營及自行操作的案例進行了知識歸納示範,及以四位建築背景的參數設計學習者為對象,進行了模式語言的評估,就評估提出的問題進行模式的修改,並進行知識歸納的嘗試,為模式語言的形成建立基礎。在參數設計模式的開發與評估過程中歸納了二項討論:有效地使用參數設計模式可能需要相當的設計知識支持;以及參數設計知識的使用必須具備的基礎知識,如數學和幾何學,是否整理在參數設計模式當中。最後,提出未來參數設計模式語言發展的方向,將以設計前期的評估和後期的細部設計與製造為主,特別是與新建築設計工具與技術的結合。

    It is import to formalize design knowledge to capture tacit design experience and techniques. A Pattern Language by Alexander and colleagues (1977) establishes a system to formulate and organize design knowledge through patterns. This research aims to utilize the power of patterns and language to formalize knowledge of parametric design for architectural designers.

    The research proposed a pattern language of parametric design based on a set of design patterns for parametric modeling by Woodbury(2007). The proposed pattern language contains patterns formulated in eight sections. Particularly among these sections, the “known uses” section is used to document design precedents that were designed with the pattern. Furthermore, sequences of figures or sketches are used in the patterns to illustrate how patterns may be used in various situations.

    The proposed pattern language is evaluated through demonstrations of modeling existing designs by the researcher and four designers. The result indicates that designs may achieved by combinations of patterns. Illustrations in the patterns help designers with less parametric design trainings to better understand how to use a pattern. However, the language currently contains patterns that are more applicable in conceptual design stage to study overall forms and volumes. Further work may focus on adding patterns for detail designs for digital fabrications to make the language more comprehensive.
