透天住宅是台灣城鄉常見的住宅類型，不但在各鄉鎮是住宅的主流，即便是大樓林立的台灣都會城市，也佔住宅總戶數的相當比例，可見透天住宅為台灣主要的主要型態，尤其受到南部民眾的普遍採用。
藉由從事建築設計實務工作近20年的經驗，希望能從設計實務的角度，對連棟透天住宅面寬與平面規劃的關係，做學術性嚴謹的探討；期望達到下列目的：
(一)彙整建築實務的設計成果，建立設計工作的資料庫。
(二)探討連棟透天住宅面寬與平面規劃的相互關係，進而了解連棟透天住宅的空間構成與設計演變。
(三)為高雄地區常民生活的居住環境做斷代的歷史紀錄。
(四)嘗試做實務建築設計的學術研究，期望成果做為實務設計的基礎，以提昇集合住宅的品質。
研究範圍以高雄縣市地區，在民國九十年至九十七年間實際被建造完成的連棟透天住宅為對象，廣泛進行案例搜集，採用統計學的歸納分析法，從統計數據上提出個人分析與見解，並藉由上述的統計分析，找出透天住宅面寬與平面規劃的相互關係，以及當代透天住宅平面規劃的趨勢；
最後綜合結論，並提出規劃上的建議：
一、找出理想配置方案
二、磨出優良的單元平面
三、嘗試創新單元平面
四、重視建築物理環境
五、新設計思惟導入
六、重視細部設計
七、適度考量民俗風水
八、用後評估的回饋檢討
The “open to sky” house is popular housing type in Taiwan’s cities and towns. Not only in country town, but also in Taiwan’s metropolitan cities. It owns a great proportion of total house. It is obvious that “open to sky” house is the main type of Taiwan’s house, especially popular in the south of Taiwan.
By way of my 20 years’ practical experiences in architectural design, I hope that I can academically explore the relationship about plan width and plan scheme of “open to sky” rowhouse from the view of practical design. It is expected that I can achieve the following objectives:
1. Collecting the works of the architectnal practical designs and establish the database of these designs.
2. Exploring the relationship ablut plan width and “open to sky” rowhouse, in order to understand the space construction and design evolvement of “open to sky” rowhouse.
3. Recording the contemporary history of the civil housing environment of Kaohsiung areas.
4. Trying to research academically on the design of architectural practices and hoping to improve the quality of housing on the basis of my work in practical design.
The range of research concentrates on the “open to sky” rowhouses built from 2001 to 2009. I collected on many cases as I can and adapted the method of statistics. I propose my individual analysis and opinion from these statistical data and found out the relationship about plan width and plan scheme of Taiwan rowhouse, and the trend of contemporary plan scheme of “open to sky” house; finally coming to my conclusion and propose my suggestions about planning:
1. Finding out the optimal site planning
2. Patiently searching for the excellent unit plan
3. Trying to innovate the unit plan
4. Emphasizing the architectural physic environment
5. Using the new thoughts of design
6. Emphasizing the detail design
7. Proper consideration of folklore “fong-suei”
8. Feed back discussion of the post occupation evaluation
