This paper presents a study that maps the behavioural patterns regarding stress coping strategies for non-clinical psychotherapeutic service design. The study was initiated based on the existence of gap between people and psychotherapy. The main objectives of this study are: to carry out an exploratory research on behavioural pattern of stress coping strategies; to identify and map the behavioural patterns regarding stress release, stressors, and attitude towards stress among different demographic groups; to provide suggestions of potential service industries for developing non-clinical psychotherapeutic service design for stress release; to enhance the existing body of literature and practice by incorporating insights from the field of psychology and service design.
This study employed quantitative and qualitative research methods. In quantitative study, the questionnaire items were consulted with psychologist for its reliability and validity to map out the stress behavioural patterns. Based on the feedback from the respondents, this research is intended to map the behavioural patterns of how people respond and cope with stress in a non-clinical environment in daily life. Insights from the quantitative research were used to build up the service design for the non-clinical psychotherapeutic service for stress release. Service blueprint was used to identify the critical points of proposed service. In the last stage, experimental method was used to check the effectiveness of the service design and verify the previous results obtained from the quantitative research.
