在都市發展快速的影響下，土地權屬為國家所有的眷村幾乎已被拆除、改建，然而在早期推土機式的更新拆除下，眷村特有的文化以及建築都消失無存；台南市履鋒東村(筆者本身是眷村第三代，該村是筆者曾居住的眷村)也將於西元2008年進行全村拆除，有鑑於此，筆者以該眷村為實證基地，在這些文化即將消之殆盡之際，記錄下眷村的空間以及歷史，針對其空間紋理與建築形式之變遷進行論述。
研究的時間軸從1949(民國38)年到2008(民國97) 年；研究內容包含兩大主軸－空間紋理及建築形式。空間紋理方面的分析包括眷村所形成的特殊街道尺度，以及眷村特有的社區空間之變遷；建築形式方面的分析包括建築物的平面、立面，以及結構、建材之變遷。
目前學術上探討眷村的議題不在少數，但大多數著重於眷村的歷史及文化，或是改建前後的居住滿意度調查。ㄧ來學術上與本研究相關的二手資料較少；二來由於年代久遠，眷村早期的社區規劃又是較無章法；再者，眷村隸屬於國軍單位，部分資料較難取得，更增加了其難度。筆者透過深入的田野調查及訪談等工作，藉由歷史考證的方法，企圖復原其建築以及空間的圖面，故研究結果著重在圖面化的呈現與分析，補足既往學術研究尚未深入探討的眷村建築與空間紋理之論述。

Under the influence of rapid urban development, the Military Dependents′ Village, whose land title belongs to the state, has almost been dismantled and reconstructed. However, dismantling using bulldozers in early years made the distinct culture of Military Dependents′ Village disappear or cease to exist. The Lyufong East Village of Tainan City will be wholly dismantled in 2008 (I′ m the third generation of Military Dependents′ Village and lived there). Thus, the author hereby will record the space and history of Military Dependents′ Village and give an account of the changes in its spatial texture and architectural form.
The period of time covered by this research ranges from 1949 to 2008, with two research contents involved: the spatial texture and the architectural form of Military Dependents′ Village. The former involves its special street scale, and the latter involves the transformation in the plan view, evaluation view, construction and materials of buildings of this village.
Although many topics discussed in the past dealt with Military Dependents′ Village more or less, but most of them focused on the history and culture of Military Dependents’ Village, or on the satisfaction survey after reconstruction. For one thing, the relevant secondhand information is very little; and for another thing, the community planning of Military Dependents′ Village in early stage was irregularly. Additionally, the Military Dependents′ Village was occupied by Military organizations, so it is difficult to obtain partial data. Through in-depth site investigation and interviews, and using the textual criticism method, the author tries to restitute the original image of the architectural form and space of Military Dependents′ Village. Therefore, this research will attach importance to presentations and analysis by using pictures on buildings and spatial texture of Military Dependents’ Village which have never been deeply discussed in the past academic researches.
