Besides creating health concerns, Covid-19 has sparked an ongoing economic and social crisis. Many corporations have had to make adjustments to deal with operational and economic challenges such as the rapid adaptation that organizations had to undertake to build a virtual work environment in order to keep their company running.
Integrating the literature from leadership research, input-process-outcome (IPO) framework and conservation of resources theory (COR), this study proposes a theoretical model to understand the effect of digital leadership in virtual work environments and its association with employee's work performance and emotional
intelligence. Self and peer reports have been used as a method of collecting data, the results obtained from peer reports can help to cross-validate and generality of the results from the self-reports. The results have shown digital leadership has a positive effect on employee emotional intelligence and team cohesiveness.
