台灣的浪動物收容所在過去，往往只將收容所這個建築物視為一個硬體空間，並沒有太多人注重收容所內部的設計規劃，但實際上建築設計的好壞能嚴重影響收容所工作人員以及流浪動物的生活品質。然而目前台灣大多數的建築設計者，並不了解這些流浪犬隻的生活型態、工作人員的工作流程、參觀民眾的心態或是動物保護的任何相關政策，導致建築專業者無法良好地規劃與設計這些空間。
　　本論文中，除了建築上的研究，筆者也希望此收容所的設計在未來不再只是純粹硬體上的安排。一個完整的流浪動物收容所建築設計應該考量各使用者的需求，並且配合其他相關收容所的軟體執行策略。在整體架構中，筆者針對有關流浪動物收容所的四個層面：社會層面、動物層面、建築層面、政策層面，進行了相關文獻的研究及整理，而在主要研究部分擬定了七項研究項目，由於需要進行探討及研究的內容有所差距，因此選用了深入訪談法、資料蒐集與分析、建築案例分析、個案研究四種方式進行主要的研究，最後擬定出設計一間流浪動物收容所的三大實施策略以及實際提出三種不同的收容所設計作為範例。
　　並期待未來的流浪動物收容所不再被認為只是動保體系中末端環節的設施，而是利用建築空間的設計，來讓民眾更加了解整個動物保護體系，藉此扮演著與社會溝通的角色，進而產生教育上的功能。

In the past, people used to see stray animal shelter as a place where contains animals. Not many people really focused in the internal facilities of these shelters. However, architectural design can easily affect the living quality of shelters’ staffs and animals. In current situation, most of the architects in Taiwan do not understand much about stray dogs’ lifestyle, staffs’ working procedures, visitors’ motives or any related animal protection policies. Therefore, they cannot provide good plans and designs for these spaces.
This paper is not just focused on architecture research but also considered the actual needs of the shelters. A complete shelter should meet with the needs of all kinds of stray animals, and become easily adapted to other related execution strategies. The author conducted research and collation of relevant literature on four levels of stray animal shelters: social level, animal level, architectural level, and policy level. There are seven categories in this project, which was conducted with in-depth interviews, data collections, architectural case analysis, and case study to make this project more detailed and precise. The research conclusion is to present three different kinds of stray animal shelters by three major implementing policies as s examples of future stray animal shelters prototype.
As a result of research, these three architecture designs with educational function is expected to be a communicator which could make people become more comprehensive of stray animal protection issues.
