For cyclists, the wind plays an important role because it powerfully affects their performance, bicycle control, balance, and moreover, their safety. The cross wind, in particular, even has a greater impact on the cyclist. In the cross wind, the side force applied to the cyclist would increase.
The aim of this study is to use CFD simulation for studying the flow phenomena around the cyclist in cross wind scenarios. With the results obtained by CFD simulation such as: wall shear stress, distribution of pressure, the wake behind the cyclist model, the flow phenomena around the cyclist model are studied in cross wind scenarios.
Keyworks: CFD, cyclist, side force, cross wind.
