As population structure is changing, “Elder” is becoming the most important topic globally. From the documentaries of aging, nursing trend, the walkability environment and the situation for elders, “aging in place” is the most ideal way to enjoy life in retirement when getting old. Thus, the environment in community affects the quality of their old age life. As getting older and older, elders are getting weaker physically and mentally which leads having limited joyful life. To alleviate the pressure on elder physically and mentally while getting old, it is important to reinforce the environment in community and the support for elder’s activities.
Many studies revealed that exposed to nature can enhance the health of people. Neighborhood parks is the main area for elders’ activities and the most accessible areas of the natural environment. Documentary shows the Restoration Environment does great influence on Patient’ health. It is extremely important to study the Restoration Environment factors for elders and propose the ideal way on the design in environment.
This study aims to find out how the factors of Restoration Environment effect elders’ successful aging. This study takes the 5 parks as the study area getting stratified sampling according to the population in each park. By questionnaires on how elders feel about the Restoration Environment and the successful aging circumstances, total 476 effective questionnaires collected. The analyze methods are item analysis, factor analysis, multiple regression analysis, canonical correlation analysis, t-test, and one way ANOVA.
The result shows that there are three factors for Restoration Environment: ‘Physical movement and exercise’, ‘Social support’, ‘Access to nature distractions’. Four factors for successful aging are ‘health negativity’, ‘mentally negativity’, ‘public support and health ’, and ‘mentally positivity’.
It has great correlation between the three factors of Restoration Environment and the four factors of successful aging. The very most effective is the physical movement and exercise which does great influence on the scale of successful aging, health, mind, and social support.
