  • Accessibility measure has been use wisely in urban planning, transportation planning and other relevant field. Although it is a useful methods to calculate the accessibility, it still remain an issue of potential information been suppressed. This issue has been raised by Pooler since 1995, he argued that the type of spatial separation also affect the description of the structure in spatial interaction. However, majority of the researches still focus on the variable of accessibility within the objects, instead of the discussion of the type and physical location of spatial separation, while the physical travel mode also seldom consider in the research.
Based on the argument by Pooler, this research attempted to prove the different spatial separation and travel mode will affect the result of accessibility. To achieve the purpose, this research compared the zone based accessibility with the point based accessibility to discover the spatial variation. This comparison executed spatial autocorrelation to define the variation of accessibility of zone based and point based.
According to the experiment results, this research discovered zone based and point based accessibility show a different clustering pattern respectively. Based on spatial clustering pattern, this research continues the kernel density analysis to visualize the pattern of clustering. From this result, we discovered the point based accessibility is more appropriate to describe the spatial structure of Kaohsiung City.
