十七世紀荷蘭本土郊區別墅花園大為流行，同時在植物學研究方面也具優勢地位，無論是其花園風格或植物學知識都深刻影響歐洲他國。同樣的花園流行也明顯透過荷蘭東印度公司（VOC）移植於巴達維亞等殖民地，卻未有相關之空間史研究。本研究旨在補足此研究缺口，以巴達維亞與赤崁地區為討論對象。並將其中花園依產權分為兩類：公立（包含國立、市立、公司所屬）與私人，以此作為對照海內外花園時之分類依據。

研究目的有三：其一，整匯十七世紀荷蘭本土花園之擇址建設歷程、佈局與風格、功能與運作，並以荷蘭省與烏特勒支省為地理範圍；其二，以前述空間模式與特性對照十七及十八世紀巴達維亞，辨識兩地之間在花園發展脈絡與空間特性之異同；其三，將前述兩地之分析成果用於對照赤崁地區（1624-1662），使原先以單體空間理解之花園，有更立體之空間發展與空間類型脈絡可循。

在研究方法上，結合文獻閱讀與歷史圖像分析。首先以文獻閱讀建立對歷史發展之理解，並在此基礎上對歷史圖像進行空間分析與推論。其中，歷史圖像部分使用荷蘭國家博物館線上館藏（Rijksstudio）、荷蘭國家檔案館（Nationaal Archief）與荷蘭共同遺產圖集（Atlas of Mutual Heritage）等圖資。應用歷史地圖分析花園之擇址與區位，並輔以歷史透視繪圖，進一步分析個別花園風格與使用情形，提升對實際空間樣貌的具象理解。

巴達維亞花園發展，展現許多與荷蘭本土相似之脈絡。公立花園皆鄰近行政中心，設計素樸且展現明顯政治象徵意涵。私人郊區別墅花園在發展脈絡上也循類似次序，首先為發展農業而建設交通網絡，別墅花園接著依運河與道路系統建設。兩地不同之處在於巴達維亞明顯受到治安影響，遲至1680年代郊區別墅才明顯流行，並且在1740年代後因城市與濱海環境惡化，別墅花園區位移轉至城市南邊。佈局與風格方面，巴達維亞並未承繼太多荷蘭本土花園之特質，花園仍工整但更為活潑，藝術風格上相當混雜而多元，顯示在地風土與文化影響。功能與運作方面，巴達維亞別墅花園比起荷蘭本土，因轉手快而投資性質更強，十八世紀後半更有著行政辦公功能，很大程度影響了十九世紀新行政中心擇址。

而將赤崁地區對照上述花園發展脈絡與空間特性並彙整文獻後，本論文做出以下推論：一、赤崁公司花園共有兩座；二、赤崁公司花園之配置類似於郊區別墅花園，並且花園採四象限配置；三、赤崁公司花園入口可能面朝新港車路；四、除了綠谷別墅，可能還有其他郊區別墅。

本論文指出巴達維亞之花園空間發展模式如何與荷蘭本土不同，並以此空間模型對照赤崁地區，揭示數個花園與郊區空間紋理之關係，初步展示殖民地花園發展模型應用於殖民地空間研究之可能性。

In the seventeenth century, country house gardens flourished in the Dutch Republic, alongside a leading position in botanical research, influencing garden styles and horticultural knowledge across Europe. This study addresses the lack of spatial historical research on the transplantation of such garden fashions to Dutch East India (VOC) colonies, focusing on the public (national, municipal, company-owned) and private country house gardens in Batavia and Saccam area. for comparative analysis. The research has three intents: (1) to compile the processes, layouts, functions, and operations of seventeenth-century Dutch gardens in the provinces of Holland and Utrecht; (2) to compare these develop patterns and characteristics with gardens in Batavia in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries; and (3) to apply this spatial model to Saccam (1624–1662) to draw spatial inferences. Methods combine literature review and historical image analysis using sources mainly from Rijksstudio, Nationaal Archief, and Atlas of Mutual Heritage, and applies a comparative analytical approach to identify spatial patterns and stylistic features. Findings show that while Batavia’s public and private gardens shared developmental patterns with the homeland, local conditions shaped differences in timing, style, and function. Analysis of Saccam suggests the existence of two VOC company gardens with quadripartite layouts, possibly oriented toward the Sincan road, alongside other suburban villas. The study demonstrates how a colonial garden development model can inform the spatial analysis of colonial settlements.
