The object of this study is to link the different constructs, such as partnership networking, technology capability and technology characteristics with the subject of value innovation. From the suppliers’ points of view, this study aims to discuss the influence factors and associated the performance resulting from value innovation involvement activities with manufacturers. The research issues focus on network relationship, technology capability and technology characteristics; with each dimension associated with collaborative value innovation involvement and the involvement performance. Based on the concept of supply chain and value network, this study aims to the suppliers’ involvement in the client’s product value innovation activities within the supply chain.

This study focuses on the manufacturing industry in Taiwan. Questionnaire was used to do the empirical study. Total 106 effective samples were collected. After analyzing the data; we find that the more trust or mutual benefit in the network relationship, the more will the suppliers involve in the value innovation activities. Besides, a supplier’s technology capability has the positive influence in the involvement of the value innovation activities. A manufacturer can choose a supplier with the better technology capability to collaborate the value innovation activities more effectively. When the uncertainty or complexity is high, a supplier will involve more in the value innovation activities. It shows the collaboration will help for risk diversification and the resources complementary. This study also finds that the more involvement in the value innovation, the more it will help a supplier to create the ability to develop the new market or the economic scale effect with the maket and the client value.

From the result of our study, we can give the manufacturers the suggestions about how to promote the degree of the suppliers’ involvement in collaborative value innovation .Furthermore; a supplier can use his technology capability to join the value innovation activities with the manufacturers to promote his performance when facing with the various technology characteristics.
