This study investigates the relationship between self-construal, narcissism, and intention to pirate digital materials among young Vietnamese participants. Utilizing a sample size of 125 individuals, the findings reveal that self-construal does not correlate significantly with narcissism or intention to engage in digital piracy. However, overt and covert narcissism significantly impacts individuals' intention to pirate digital materials. By shedding light on the psychological factors underlying piracy intentions, this research offers insights that can inform policymakers and practitioners in devising effective strategies to address the issue of digital piracy. Furthermore, it identifies avenues for future research, emphasizing the need for longitudinal designs and diverse samples to capture the evolving nature of piracy behavior in the face of rapid technological advancements. Overall, this study enhances our understanding of the complex dynamics between self-construal, narcissism, and intention to pirate digital materials, thereby advancing scholarship in the field and facilitating practical interventions in the fight against digital piracy.
