  • 本研究於台灣西南部低海拔山區設置四樣區,觀察樣區內台灣魔芋(Amorphophallus henryi N. E. Br.)的花序形態、開花現象及其訪花者組成與行為;鏡檢台灣魔芋的花粉外觀,及以染色方法觀察花粉管萌發情形;檢視樣區內台灣魔芋花序訪花者是否攜帶花粉訪花;並自樣區內移植個體進行實驗,探討台灣魔芋的生殖系統。結果顯示:花序顏色,佛燄苞、花序軸及附屬物具有變異;具球形及凹形花粉,其中球形花粉可萌發花粉管;花序展開至雄花花藥開裂後,佛燄苞苞片疊合處逐漸向花序軸靠近直到接觸,有異於以往報導部份天南星科植物的苞片緊縮現象;台灣魔芋的諸多訪花者中,閻魔金龜(Onthophagus spp.)與隱翅蟲(Staphyinidae)兩類鞘翅目昆蟲有助於台灣魔芋的傳粉作用:兩者訪花時體表附有台灣魔芋的花粉,且留滯苞片腔期間攀爬花序軸的行為,有助於異體授粉與自體授粉;閻魔金龜與隱翅蟲藉由苞片與花序軸接觸區域離開花序,且離開花序時體表附有花粉;樣區內台灣魔芋樣株平均結實率達68 %,且部份果序有傾斜現象,且部份漿果有母體發芽的現象。生殖系統實驗結果顯示台灣魔芋為雌先熟,且花藥開裂時,雌花柱頭仍具接受花粉能力,為自體可孕的物種。台灣魔芋的雌先熟、雌雄花期重疊,及佛燄苞移動現象,有助於異體授粉及自體授粉。

    Four sampling areas were selected in low elevations, southwestern Taiwan for studying the pollination biology of Amorphophallus henryi N. E. Br.. Inflorescence morphology, flowering behaviors, composition and behaviors of floral visitors on Amorphophallus henryi in these four sampling areas were described. Pollen morphology and germination were examined. The distinction between floral visitors and effective pollinators were also studied. Several plants were transplanted to the experimental greenhouse from sampling areas for checking the breeding system.
    Variations were found on color of inflorescence and morphology of spathes, spadixes, and appendages in the wild. Both spheroidal and concave pollen grain could be found, however only the spheridal ones is fertile. Before anthers dehisce, side of spathe would be closer to spadix gradually until touching the spadix. Movement of spathe was significantly different from spathe behaviors of other Araceae species in previous reports. The significance of this behavior to the pollinators was also discussed. Pollen grain could be found on surfaces of Onthophagus and Staphyinidae beetles. These pollinators climbed up the spadix steadily when they were in the spathe chamber, and therefore increased the chances of xenogamous and geitonogamous pollination. By these characters suggested that Onthophagus spp. and Staphyinidae spp. should be pollinators of A. henryi. Fruit set of A. henryi was 68 % in sampling areas. “Curved” infructescences and viviparous berries were found on several individuals. Breeding system of A. henryi was self-compatible, that female and male stages were overlapped on this protogynous species. Protogyny, overlap of female and male stage, and spathe behavior should be benefit for xenogamous and geitonogamous pollination of this aroid.
