本研究以Snyder的希望感理論與Goleman的情緒智力理論為基礎，探討台灣都會地區國中生希望感與情緒智力之間的關聯性。因此，本研究之研究目的為：（一）瞭解台灣都會地區國中生希望感之現況。（二）瞭解台灣都會地區國中生情緒智力之現況。（三）探討台灣都會地區國中生希望感與情緒智力之關聯性。本研究採取問卷調查法，研究對象為台灣都會地區之國民中學學生。採分層隨機抽樣方法，抽取九所學校共757名學生，再將所得資料以描述統計、皮爾森積差相關與多元迴歸之巢式迴歸模型技術等統計方式進行資料處理與分析。
本研究結果顯示：（一）希望感中，效能思考與管理情緒呈負相關，與自我激勵、認知他人情緒及整體情緒智力呈正相關；（二）路徑思考與管理情緒呈負相關，其餘皆與認識自身情緒、自我激勵、認知他人情緒、經營人際關係及整體情緒智力呈正相關；（三）納入控制變項後，效能思考與認知他人情緒間呈正相關。最後，根據此實證研究結果進行討論並提出建議，以供家庭、學校教育與未來研究之參考。

This study tried to understand the relationships between junior high school students’ hope and emotional intelligence in metropolitan area of Taiwan based on Snyder’s Hope Theory and Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence Theory. The purposes of this study were to investigate: (a) the situation of hope of junior high school students in metropolitan area of Taiwan; (b) the situation of emotional intelligence of junior high school students in metropolitan area of Taiwan; (c) the relationships between junior high school students’ hope and emotional intelligence. The sample in this study consisted of 757 students from 9 junior high schools in the metropolitan area of Taiwan. In this study, statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and nested regression model analysis.

　　The major fingings were summarized as followings: (a) there was a negative relation between agency thoughts and self-emtion-managing. However, agency thoughts were positively related to self-motivation, other people’s emotion-recogning and the whole emotion intelligence; (b) there was a negative relation between pathway thoughts and self-emtion-managing. On the other hand, pathway thoughts were positively related to self-emotion-knowing, self-motivation, other people’s emotion-recogning, relationships-managing and the whole emotional intelligence; (c) when control variables were included, the relationship between agency thoughts and other people’s emotion-recogning was changed.

Finally, possible explanations for these findings and implications were discussed. Based on the findings, this study also proposed some relevant suggestions that could be a reference to family education, school counseling and future researches.
