人類自有文明以來，都市一直是與農村分離的。然而近幾年全球的環境變遷促使人們重新思考如何在都市進行農耕以面對環境與糧食問題。本論文以宏觀的角度重新思考農業與都市，探討由制度面將農業更深入的融入都市當中，進而形成新的都市觀。本論文由四個命題切入研究 :

1.緊湊城市
都市在有限的土地上必須容納更多的人口，因此選擇「塔」作為構成都市的基本建築類型。研究其平面尺寸，並決定大、中、小三種名義尺寸作為設計參考，並研究最緊湊的組成關係。2.混合使用
對於垂直向度發展的「塔」，賦與其混合使用的可能性。包括一般都市中常有的使用，如住宅、旅館、辦公及商店，另外包括本研究探討的農耕等四種使用為主。
3.彈性空間
「塔」的單一樓層應當能涵容前述四種使用機能，而且在使用改變時減低整建耗損。
4.乾淨能源
石化燃料將逐漸被淘汰。然而眾多乾淨能源當中，太陽能為最容易取得、且技術成熟的能源。本研究將計算出不同尺寸的「塔」能轉換的太陽能。

基地選在澳門的新城區。該區域是全新的填海造鎮，作為背景呈現研究成果--農作的都市樣貌。

Urban and rural areas have long been separated from each other since the dawn of civilization. Only recently, people start to consider how to farm in the city in response to the global warming and food shortage.The thesis takes this subject matter with a new urbanism by that integrates city with agriculture. This thesis deals with four issues:
1. Compact City
“Tower” was selected as basic form for city, because of the rising population in the limited urban area. The dimensions of “Tower” were studied, to induce three nominal dimensions of Large, Medium, and Small. Following step is the study of the composition of “Towers”, as to the Lot Coverage Ratio and Lot Dimension as well.
2. Mixed Use
The Tower of vertical expansion was given the possibility of Mixed Use. Common functions in cities, such as housing, hotel, office and retail shops were included, and farming-the main issue of this thesis- as well.
3. Flexible Space
Every single floor of towers should be able to accommodate all four functions mentioned before, and reduce cost when reforming.
4. Clean Energy
Fossil fuels are environmentally harmful. Among all the clean energies, solar energy is the one that is most accessible and efficient. This part of study calculates how many electricity can be produced by towers of different dimensions for daily use.
To demonstrate the result of this study on Agrarian Urbanism, the site is chosen at Macau’s new town, which is a new island made by reclamation.
